The system is rigged. It’s time to change the rules.

Oregon families are getting crushed while the ultra-rich walk away untouched.

I’m Kell Fox — Oregonian, father, technologist, and reformer. I’m stepping forward because affordability will never improve until we confront the loopholes that shield extreme wealth while working people pay the price.

POVERTY IS POLICY

In the wealthiest country in the world, poverty is a policy choice. Scarcity is a lie manufactured by the ultra-rich. We can do better for all of us. We must.

Tax Extreme Wealth, not Labor

Oregon is facing massive budget shortfalls this November due to the disastrous “Big Beautiful Bill”. We can’t pile on yet another payroll tax to cover basic services. We need to open up new sources of revenue from those that can afford it the most.

I’m stepping forward to confront the core truth:

Oregon’s affordability crisis is the direct result of decades of manufactured scarcity, shielding the ultra-rich from contributing their fair share.

We can and must do better. Fair tax policy can open up vast sources of revenue for essential services.

This is not a radical idea. All other modern democracies enjoy the benefits of fair taxation, yielding higher quality of life, strong and reliable health care, free education and preschool, a national pension ensuring seniors don’t spiral into poverty. These are facts of life everywhere in the world except here.

More About Kell

1. Make the ultra-rich pay what they owe.

Real tax fairness means ending the tax loopholes that let enormous fortunes avoid contributing to the schools, housing, and infrastructure the rest of us rely on. Tax policy should focus on the leaks at the top, not punish hard-working taxpayers whose labor is taxed before they ever see a dime.

2. Protect working and middle-class families.

No new burdens on ordinary Oregonians. The revenue must come from the top — from wealth that’s been exempted for decades, even generations. We are not an aristocracy, we are a republic.

3. Invest in long-term affordability.

Housing and education are not optional. They are the foundation of a livable Oregon, and they’ve been starved because our system prioritizes wealth preservation over public good. Oregon will continue to lead the way on livability.

4. Stand firm against rising extremism.

When disinformation and anti-democratic forces attack our institutions and communities, silence is not an option. Due process, innocent until proven guilty, equal protection under the law — these foundational principles are under attack. We must fight to restore our rights.
